Felicity Buckland

Mezzo-soprano

Felicity trained at the RNCM and on ENO’s Opera Works programme. She studies privately with Mary Plazas.

She spent the 2019/20 season understudying roles in The Mask of Orpheus (Birtwistle), Orpheus in the Underworld and Carmen at ENO, and joining the chorus in Opera North’s The Greek Passion by Martinu. In the months lost to the COVID-19 pandemic she would have been at Scottish Opera with The Gondoliers.

Previous operatic highlights have included performing in the Olivier Award-winning ensemble and covering Lily in Porgy and Bess, performed at both ENO and Dutch National Opera. Felicity has also sung: the title roles in Carmen (Kentish Opera) and La Cenerentola (High Time Opera); Olga Eugene Onegin for Opera Up Close, Opera South East and Mid Wales Opera (cover); Dorabella Così Fan Tutte (Baseless Fabric Theatre); Rossweisse Die Walküre (Grange Park Opera); Cherubino The Marriage of Figaro and 3rd Lady The Magic Flute (both Opera Up Close) and Paquette Candide and cover Suzuki Madama Butterfly (West Green House Opera.)

Felicity is spending Autumn 2020 in Vienna, singing the role of Lily alongside chorus in Porgy and Bess at the Theater an der Wien.

She is in demand for solo oratorio, professional consort and session work, and is an experienced animateur and singing tutor.
