Clair Wild  

Soprano 

Claire was born in Birmingham and studied at the Royal Northern College of music, where she won numerous scholarships and prizes including a major Peter Moores Scholarship, Musicians Benelovent Fund, the Webster Booth Prize and the James Oncken Song Prize. Whilst still a student she made her debut with Opera North where she continued to work for over a decade with such roles as Gretel, L’enfant, Despina, Zerlina, Pamina to name a few. She has worked for most of the major companies in the UK including Glyndeborne, Scottish Opera, Royal Opera House, English National Opera, and most recently Welsh National Opera where she sang the title role in ‘Kiss me Kate’, Emma in Khovanchina. Other recent roles include Caridad in David Sawyers world premiere ‘The Skating Rink’ for Garsington Opera, Mimi in La Bohéme, with Opera-Up-Close and Fiordiligi and Rosalind with Baseless Fabric. Future projects include new works with the Psappha Ensemble.
