Antanas Makštutis

Clarinettist 

Lithuanian-born clarinetist Antanas Makštutis received his bachelor‘s degree from Royal Academy of Music in London where he studied with Professor Mark van de Wiel. In 2016, he graduated with a Diplôme Supérieur de Concertiste from Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, working with Professor Patrick Messina. In 2018, he finished his master’s studies at Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Professor Harmen de Boer. Now Antanas is living in Paris and continues his studies in chamber music together with Indigo trio at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris.

He is a laureate of over 25 international competitions including 2nd prize in the XV International clarinet competition “Citta di Carlino” 2017, Italy, 2nd prize in the XII International clarinet competition "Saverio Mercadante“ 2016, Italy and Grand Prix in the International classical music competition "Kaunas Sonorum 2011", Lithuania.

In 2018 Antanas gave a solo recital in the prestigious Salle Cortot in Paris. He actively plays in chamber music concerts. He also performed together with Orchestra National de France, Philharmonia as an orchestral musician. He performed as a soloist as well as in a duo with his brother Stasys alongside most of the Lithuanian professional orchestras. He performed in a side-by-side project with London Sinfonietta. Antanas appears on the Royal Academy of Music Soloists Ensemble’s CD recording of Mozart‘s Gran Partita conducted by Trevor Pinnock (Linn Records).
