PREVIOUS OUTREACH Work

We have recently provided meaningful professional development opportunities for 240 young people from deprived, ex-mining communities in Kent and Yorkshire. In two days of outreach work led by established young artists, two public showcases were created, featuring a fusion of opera, ballet and theatre. Constella will then use material from the project as influences within the main Canary Boys production, which will premeiere in 2018.

TAKE PART IN THE CANARY BOYS

Constella OperaBallet, an award-winning opera-ballet company, is coming to Manchester on the 1st and 2nd of July and Wakefield on the 15th and 16th of July, to provide a unique and FREE opportunity for people to come together to celebrate mining heritage through opera-ballet.

It is an opportunity to learn from and perform alongside established young artists who work across the world in companies including Royal Opera House, Vienna State Opera and the Norwegian Royal Ballet. Each workshop will culminate in a public performance by participants performing alongside Constella artists.

The weekends will be based around development work that Constella is carrying out to create a new opera-ballet showcasing coal mining heritage. Ex-miners from former Northern mining communities will be sharing their stories and memories to be interpreted and performed.
