Martin is writing a PhD on the poetics of touch in the poetry of Michael Symmons Roberts. He was awarded an MA in Creative Writing (Poetry) from MMU in 2013, and won an AHRC postgraduate studentship in 2012. Martin's poetry has been widely published in poetry magazines such as The Rialto, Magma, The Interpreter's House and The Moth. He collaborate regularly with the composer Leo Geyer, resulting in a number of collaborations from song cycles to operas. As well as being an Associate Lecturer in English, Martin works regularly for the IDEA office on projects such as the Mother Tongue Other Tongue competition and creative writing workshops in Manchester Art Gallery.
